Here's one to add to your list: The Decatur Book Festival in Decatur, GA (just 5 miles outside of Atlanta). It's going into its 4th year and had 60,000 attendees last year. It sounds cheesy, but the festival really makes literature fun. It takes place every Labor Day Weekend, so you have plenty of time to plan ahead for the 2009 DBF. Plus, it's pretty much as recession friendly as you can get - all events are free!

I'm really psyched about this book, and can honestly say that it's guaranteed to take the routine "long weekend" to a completely different level. The inspiration came from my two favorite pastimes--traveling and having fun. There are so many incredible celebrations out there, and this book gives you all the tools you'll need to explore a new place while going to a party that you've always wanted to attend.
There is a challenge that I'd like to pose. Many of you may wonder why certain parties didn't make the book. If there is an extravaganza that you feel should be in the next edition, tell me about it! The only qualifications are that it occurs in the same city each year, while the energy level is through the roof. Thanks guys, and party on.
